Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, who presided over the joint preparatory meeting, said it is not the time for mudslinging but to work together forgetting about differences of opinion.
He said dedicated leaders and workers would be evaluated one day, while sycophants and opportunists would not be able to survive in the party ultimately.
BNP joint secretary general Mirza Abbas criticized the opportunists and controversial leaders of the party, particularly those who had played a role against the party during the last military-baked caretaker government, and said these leaders never think of making party programmes a success. "Instead, they''re busy dodging others."
Abbas said a programme needs to be taken against those party leaders who do not want the party to be well-organized. "Those who had betrayed with the party are now being awarded, while the dedicated ones are getting deprived."
BNP vice-president Sarwari Rahman said a movement has to be waged for the complete release of Khaleda Zia as she is not now fully free yet.
Jubo Dal president Barkatullah Bulu MP, Muktijoddha Dal president Suhrabuddin and Mohila Dal leader Shirin Sultana also spoke at the meeting.
